How do I wire up 2-Way switching?

We often get asked how to wire up a circuit for 2-way switching (typically for lighting) so we've got a quick tutorial for you.  You will need 2 x On/On switches for this which will enable you to switch your circuit on or off from either location, regardless of the position of the other switch.

1. A fused +12V supply goes from the battery to the common terminal of switch 1
2. The +12V supply continues from the common terminal of switch 2 out to the load (e.g. lights)
3. The outer terminals of each switch are connected together
4. The negative connection for the load goes directly back to the battery neg or suitable grounding point

We advise twin-core cable for connecting the outer terminals as it makes it easier to route than 2 separate cores.
