A common query we have from customers is 'What size light is needed for a room?' or 'How many lights do I need?'. This is made tricky as Lumens is the measurement of the output intensity of LED lights but these are not directly related to Watts, which is the measurement for traditional incandescent bulbs. This means it's quite difficult to compare LED light output with that of incandescent lights.
Firstly, we like to ask what type of room you are looking to light? This is because a typical living area is lit with a warm white (a slightly yellow light) and Kitchen spaces and bathrooms are lit by a cool white (a white type light).
The next question is about the size of the room. You’ll typically want to make sure for every square foot you’re getting around 20 lumens. It's important to note that, depending on the colour scheme your space has and the type of furniture, you may need more or less light.
